M27500-24ML2T08 — 24 AWG × 2 Dual-Conductor Mil-Spec Shielded Cable

The M27500-24ML2T08 is a two-conductor shielded cable mil-spec shielded cable to MIL-W-27500 specification. With 0.20 mm² per conductor at 24 AWG, it is designed for CAN bus data lines, sensor signal transmission, wideband lambda signal wiring, and low-level sensor output circuits susceptible to ignition EMI. The overall tinned copper braid shield attenuates electromagnetic interference (EMI) that would otherwise corrupt sensor signals in the electromagnetically noisy environment of a race car engine bay or chassis.

Why Shielded Cable Is Required in Motorsport

A modern race car generates significant EMI from ignition systems, fuel injectors, electric motors, relay switching, and CAN bus communication. Standard unshielded wire acts as an antenna in this environment, picking up induced noise voltages that appear as erroneous data on ECU input channels. Shielded cable routes the braid as a Faraday cage around the conductors, intercepting radiated EMI and diverting it to chassis ground through a drain wire, rather than allowing it to appear on the signal circuit.

2-Conductor Format

This cable carries two conductors within a single overall braid shield — the standard format for differential signal pairs, wideband lambda heater-and-signal circuits, and any application where two circuits share a common shield to reduce wiring mass. This configuration is well suited to CAN bus data lines, sensor signal transmission, wideband lambda signal wiring, and low-level sensor output circuits susceptible to ignition EMI.

24 AWG — Technical Context

24 AWG is the lightest conductor in the M27500 range, optimised for signal-level circuits where minimising harness weight and diameter is important alongside the need for EMI shielding.

MIL-W-27500 Specification

This cable uses Tefzel (ETFE) insulated conductors with a tinned copper overall braid shield and Tefzel outer jacket. The ETFE insulation provides the same 150°C continuous temperature rating and chemical resistance as M22759/32 Tefzel wire, making the complete cable assembly suitable for use near heat sources in an engine bay. The tin-coated braid remains solderable, allowing termination to a shield drain wire or directly to a connector shell for grounding.
