Deutsch DT 12-Way Wedge Lock – Receptacle-Side Secondary Retention

The Deutsch DT 12-way wedge lock is the critical secondary retention component that secures size 16 contacts inside DT Series connector housings after crimping and insertion. Designed for the receptacle side of the DT 12-way connector pair, this wedge lock is an essential component in every properly built Deutsch DT Series connection and cannot be omitted in motorsport wiring applications.

How the DT Wedge Lock Works

Once all terminals have been crimped and inserted into the connector housing, the wedge lock slides into place across the rear of the housing. As it seats fully, it mechanically locks each individual terminal in its cavity, preventing backwards pullout under the harness tension and vibration loads typical of race car operation. The wedge also provides a secondary weather seal backup and confirms full terminal insertion by clicking into its locked position.
