Stainless Steel Internal Filtration Media — Nuke Performance Competition Catch Can
The Stainless Steel Media (SKU 265-10-206) is the primary internal filtration element for the Nuke Performance Competition Catch Can. The stainless steel mesh media provides the coalescing surface area inside the catch can where oil droplets in the crankcase gas stream contact the mesh, coalesce into larger droplets, and drain to the bottom of the catch can body rather than passing through to the outlet.
How Stainless Steel Catch Can Media Works
Oil mist separation in a catch can depends on the gas stream contacting a large surface area of fine filtration media. Oil droplets in the gas stream are much heavier than the surrounding gas molecules — when they contact the stainless steel mesh, surface tension causes them to adhere and coalesce into progressively larger droplets that eventually drain by gravity. Stainless steel media is the preferred material for this application due to its oil resistance, cleanability, and durability across the full temperature and pressure range of a motorsport engine crankcase system.
Key Features
- Stainless steel construction — fully oil and fuel resistant, will not degrade in service
- High surface area mesh design maximises oil coalescence efficiency
- Cleanable and reusable — wash with solvent, dry, and reinstall
- Factory-specification replacement for Nuke Performance Competition Catch Can
- Genuine Nuke Performance service component
Maintenance
Clean the stainless media at each catch can service interval. If the media becomes deformed or cannot be adequately cleaned, replace with a new unit to restore full filtration effectiveness. Available from Arctic Performance Parts for Competition Catch Can owners in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
