Hi-Temp Male Quick Disconnect Terminal — 1/4″ Blade, 22–18 AWG for Motorsport Wiring

The 9932 is a high-temperature male 1/4″ quick disconnect (QD) crimp terminal for 22–18 AWG (0.3–0.8 mm² mm²) wire, designed for motorsport and high-performance vehicle wiring applications requiring a removable single-wire connection point. Quick disconnect terminals mate with the corresponding female terminal to form a connection that can be disconnected by hand without tools, making them suitable for serviceability points in a motorsport harness — such as relay output terminations, fan motor feeds, and auxiliary circuit connection points that must be disconnectable for component removal or replacement. This terminal is suited to low-to-medium current signal circuits, relay coil disconnect points, auxiliary switch feed terminations, and any 22–18 AWG circuit requiring a high-temperature crimp quick-disconnect termination.

High-Temperature Construction

Standard vinyl-insulated quick disconnect terminals are rated for a maximum continuous temperature of approximately 80–105°C — insufficient for harness sections near exhaust manifolds, turbocharger housings, or other high-temperature engine bay locations. Hi-temp quick disconnect terminals use a nylon or high-temperature plastic insulation rated to 125°C or higher, making them suitable for use in motorsport engine bay environments where standard terminals would soften, deform, or fail due to radiated heat exposure.

Male Terminal — Mating Configuration

The male 1/4″ blade disconnect tab mates with the corresponding female terminal of the same blade width. In motorsport wiring convention, the male terminal is typically installed on the power feed or control circuit side — the terminal that may be live when disconnected, which the recessed female housing protects against accidental short circuit. Correct polarity assignment at quick disconnect points is important for both safety and circuit clarity.

22–18 AWG Wire Gauge

Selecting the correct gauge terminal for the wire being terminated is critical for a properly formed crimp. The 9932 is rated for 22–18 AWG (0.3–0.8 mm² mm²) — the crimp barrel is sized specifically for this conductor range. Using an undersized barrel on a heavier wire results in an under-crimped joint with high contact resistance; using an oversized barrel on a lighter wire produces a loose crimp that may pull out under vibration.

Available from Arctic Performance Parts

Arctic Performance Parts stocks hi-temp quick disconnect terminals in male and female configurations across 22–18 AWG, 16–14 AWG, and 12–10 AWG ranges to support motorsport harness builds and electrical service work across Scandinavia. Lead time 1–2 weeks for quantities beyond current stock.
