FireFlex-WRAP 2″ Red — Self-Wrapping Silicone Fibreglass Heat Tape for Motorsport Harnesses

The FIW2.00RD is a 2″-wide FireFlex-WRAP self-adhesive silicone fibreglass wrapping tape in red, designed for field-applied heat protection on motorsport wiring harnesses, hydraulic lines, and fuel system components near high-temperature engine bay heat sources. FireFlex-WRAP is suited to large harness trunks and primary loom sections where a wider wrap width provides faster coverage of large-diameter bundles. The self-fusing silicone construction adheres to itself without adhesive when wrapped under tension, creating a continuous sealed outer layer that provides both heat reflection and mechanical protection over the wrapped section.

FireFlex-WRAP vs FireFlex Sleeve — Choosing the Right Format

FireFlex sleeve (the FIN series, sold separately) is a pre-formed sleeve that slides over a wire bundle from an open end — ideal for initial harness construction where the sleeve can be installed before connector ends are fitted. FireFlex-WRAP is a field-applied tape that wraps around an existing harness section from the outside — ideal for retrofitting heat protection to an existing harness without disconnecting connectors, for protecting shorter sections where a sleeve would need trimming, or for protecting irregular-geometry areas where a straight sleeve does not conform well to the harness routing. Both use the same silicone fibreglass material for comparable thermal performance.

2″ Width — Application Range

The 2″ wrap width suits large harness trunks and primary loom sections where a wider wrap width provides faster coverage of large-diameter bundles. Narrower wrap widths suit smaller bundles and allow tighter wrapping around corners and bends in the harness routing; wider widths provide faster coverage of large-diameter trunks but are less conformable around tight bends. For large-diameter primary loom trunks, wider wrap is more efficient; for smaller sub-harnesses routed near exhaust, narrower wrap provides better conformance around bends.

Red Colour — Visual Identification

The red colour of FireFlex-WRAP provides immediate visual identification of heat-protected harness sections, distinguishing them from standard unprotected or nylon-sleeved harness sections during vehicle inspection and service. Red-wrapped sections signal to mechanics that the underlying wiring is routed in a heat-critical zone and should not be re-routed without reinstating the heat protection.
