F6 Woven Split Braid 1 1/4″ Black — Motorsport Expandable Harness Sleeving

The F6W1.25BK-25FT is an F6 woven split braid expandable sleeving in 1 1/4″ nominal diameter black, supplied as 25-foot reel. F6 Woven split braid is a heavy-duty woven polyester expandable sleeving used for finishing, bundling, and protecting motorsport wiring harnesses. The split braid construction allows the sleeve to be opened along its length and wrapped around an existing harness without disconnecting connector ends — a critical feature for retrofitting sleeving to completed harnesses. Suited to motorsport harness bundle sleeving.

F6 Woven vs F6 Non-Woven (Flexo) — Key Differences

The F6 Woven (F6W series) and F6 Non-Woven / Flexo (F6N series) are both split braid expandable sleeving products but differ in construction. The F6 Woven uses a tighter, heavier woven pattern that provides greater abrasion resistance, a denser coverage of the underlying harness, and a more robust surface that resists fraying at cut ends. The F6 Non-Woven / Flexo uses a lighter braided construction that is more flexible and easier to install over tightly routed harnesses at the cost of some abrasion resistance. For primary harness trunks and harness sections routed near abrasion risks (chassis edges, bulkheads, body panels), the F6 Woven is the correct specification; for sensor sub-harnesses and lightly routed sections, the F6 Flexo is often sufficient.

Split Braid — Over-Harness Installation

The split braid design means the sleeve has a continuous longitudinal slit that allows it to be pried open and wrapped around an existing harness from outside, rather than threaded over the harness from an open end. This is the critical feature that makes split braid sleeving compatible with fully-terminated harnesses — the harness can be completely built with all connectors crimped before the protective sleeving is applied, rather than requiring the sleeve to be pre-installed before connector fitting. At each end of a sleeved section, the sleeve is secured with heat shrink tubing, cable tie, or adhesive shrink to prevent it from unravelling.
