Deutsch DT 2-Way Receptacle (Dt04) — Flanged Panel-Mount Receptacle for Motorsport Wiring

The DT04-2P-L012 is a 2-way Deutsch DT series receptacle (DT04) connector housing for motorsport and automotive wiring applications. This variant is the flanged panel-mount receptacle version: panel-mount or bulkhead-mount configuration with a mounting flange that allows the receptacle to be bolted to a chassis panel, firewall, or equipment face — providing a fixed connection point in a motorsport harness. The DT receptacle (DT04) mates with the corresponding DT06 plug to form a complete IP67-rated sealed circular connector assembly suited to sensor connections, fuel pump circuit quick-disconnects, auxiliary relay trigger circuits, lighting feeds, and any 2-circuit motorsport interface requiring the IP67 sealing and vibration resistance of the Deutsch DT format.

Deutsch DT Series — The Motorsport Connector Standard

Deutsch DT connectors are the most widely used motorsport connector format outside of mil-spec circular connectors, providing IP67 environmental sealing (when correctly assembled with wedgelock), vibration resistance, a wide operating temperature range of −55°C to +125°C, and availability across 2-way through 12-way circuit counts. The DT series uses size 16 contacts and requires a wedge lock to achieve its sealing and contact retention rating — the wedge lock must be fully seated for the connector to meet its specification.

2-Way Circuit Count — Applications

The 2-way DT connector is suited to sensor connections, fuel pump circuit quick-disconnects, auxiliary relay trigger circuits, lighting feeds, and any 2-circuit motorsport interface requiring the IP67 sealing and vibration resistance of the Deutsch DT format. The DT format’s combination of compact size, IP67 sealing, and positive-locking wedge makes it the correct connector for any motorsport circuit interface that may be exposed to moisture, vibration, and the extreme temperature range of a motorsport vehicle.

Flanged Panel-Mount Configuration

The L012 flanged receptacle adds a mounting flange to the standard DT04 receptacle body, allowing the connector to be bolted to a chassis panel, firewall, or equipment face. This creates a fixed connection point in the motorsport harness — the receptacle is secured to the vehicle structure and the DT06 plug on the harness is mated and unmated as required for service access. Panel-mount DT receptacles are commonly used for firewall feedthrough connectors, diagnostic port connection points, and equipment interface connectors on motorsport vehicles.

DT04 vs DT06 — Receptacle and Plug Roles

The DT04 is the receptacle connector body: it receives the contact tabs and mates from the front. The DT06 is the plug connector body: it carries the wire-side contacts and is inserted into the DT04 during mating. In standard motorsport harness practice, the DT04 receptacle is wired to the chassis or vehicle side, and the DT06 plug is wired to the device or sub-harness end. This convention means the chassis-side contacts are recessed within the DT04 body, providing mechanical protection when the harness plug is disconnected during service.
