Deutsch Autosport AS 79-Way Plug — Pin (Male) — Red Key (N)

The Deutsch Autosport AS 79-Way Plug Pin (Male) Connector with Red (N) Keying Insert — SKU: AS620-35PN is a professional MIL-spec-grade Deutsch Autosport AS series connector for near-maximum-density full race car loom separable joins and primary ECU main harness interfaces in race cars and high-performance vehicles across Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Configured as a free, cable-mounted plug half that mates with a fixed flange or inline receptacle — the movable, harness-side component that disconnects for component removal, harness separation, and servicing.

Deutsch Autosport AS 79-Way — 79-circuit Circuit Configuration

The Deutsch Autosport AS series is the professional standard circular connector format for motorsport wiring — aluminium alloy shell, gold-plated contacts, positive push-pull locking, and full MIL-spec environmental sealing for race-condition reliability. The 79-circuit configuration is used for complete ECU harness, PDM wiring, and ancillary circuits crossing a single connector in a full professional race car loom build in professional motorsport builds throughout Scandinavia. Near-maximum density 79-circuit shell — one of the highest circuit count configurations in the as series.

Pin (Male) — 79-Circuit Contact Array

This is the pin half of the 79-way AS plug pair. Seventy-nine pin contacts transfer seventy-nine individual circuits — the near-maximum density active array of one of the highest circuit count connectors in the AS series. The corresponding socket half of the same circuit count and key colour completes the mated pair — both halves are required. AS contacts are ordered separately; select the correct contact part number for your wire gauge and current requirements.

Red Key (N) — Keying Position and Mis-Mate Prevention

Red N is the neutral (non-keyed) specification — the correct choice when only a single 79-circuit AS plug is used at this separation point and no adjacent same-size connector creates a mis-mate risk. An N-keyed half mates with any other N-keyed half of the same circuit count, keeping the connector specification simple and straightforward for single-pair 79-circuit AS applications. Red N is also commonly used on initial harness prototype builds before the final keying strategy is confirmed, on harnesses where each AS connector is a unique circuit count (eliminating any possibility of mis-mating by design), and on any motorsport harness build in Norway, Sweden, or Denmark where keyed mis-mate prevention between same-circuit-count connectors is not required at this particular separation point.

Plug Configuration — The Movable Cable-Mounted Connector Half

The AS plug is the free, cable-mounted half of the connector pair — it does not mount to a panel or chassis surface. The plug travels with the removable component or sub-harness and mates into a fixed receptacle (flange-mounted or inline) to complete the electrical circuit when the assembly is connected. This makes the plug the correct specification for engine-side harness connectors that must be disconnected for engine removal, dashboard harness sub-connectors that follow a removable dashboard assembly, removable subframe harness joins, and any other separable point where one connector half must be freely movable with a removable vehicle component.

The 79-circuit AS plug is used for near-maximum-density full race car loom separable joins and primary ECU main harness interfaces across race cars and performance vehicles in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. The plug’s free, unmounted format allows the harness builder to route the cable bundle freely from the removable component to the mating point without any chassis mounting constraint — then mate the plug directly into the fixed receptacle when the component is installed. The push-pull positive locking mechanism provides secure, vibration-resistant engagement that holds through race conditions while allowing intentional disconnection at every service interval.
