Raychem SCL 1/8 Adhesive-Lined 3:1 Heat Shrink Tubing — 8 × 6-Inch Pre-Cut Pieces
The 6IN-1/8-SCL is Raychem SCL cross-linked polyolefin 3:1 adhesive-lined dual-wall heat shrink tubing in 1/8 expanded inner diameter (approximately 3.2 mm expanded, recovers to approximately 0.8 mm recovered), supplied as 8 × 6-inch pre-cut pieces. Raychem SCL is the professional standard adhesive-lined heat shrink for motorsport and aerospace harness construction, providing reliable environmental sealing, strain relief, and wire protection. This diameter suits 18–24 AWG individual wires, sensor signal wires, fine wire splice protection, and small connector cable entry sealing.
Raychem SCL — Dual-Wall 3:1 Construction
Raychem SCL uses a cross-linked polyolefin outer wall with an inner hot-melt adhesive lining. The 3:1 shrink ratio accommodates larger pre-shrink diameters than standard 2:1 tubing, making SCL more adaptable to irregular connector geometries and multi-wire splice joints. When heated, the outer wall shrinks to conform tightly while the adhesive flows into gaps to create a watertight seal. Continuous temperature resistance of 135°C suits motorsport under-bonnet and engine bay use.
1/8 Diameter — Application Detail
The 1/8 SCL suits 18–24 AWG individual wires, sensor signal wires, fine wire splice protection, and small connector cable entry sealing. Correct diameter selection ensures the tubing slides over the component before shrinking and shrinks firmly against the wire or connector body without excessive adhesive overflow or insufficient contact with the sealed surface. When sealing a splice joint, the SCL should extend at least 6 mm beyond each end of the splice barrel after shrinking to ensure the adhesive has sealed the wire insulation entry on both sides.
