Idemitsu Racing Rotary Premix, One Quart — Motorsport-Grade Engine Oil for Mazda Rotary Engines
Idemitsu Racing Rotary Premix, One Quart from Idemitsu is a motorsport-grade premix formulated for rotary engines using oil premix lubrication — either as a direct-mix with fuel for apex seal lubrication in competition builds where the OEM metering pump has been deleted, or as a supplementary oil injection lubricant for track use. Idemitsu is the original OEM lubricant supplier for Mazda and has extensive engineering experience with the specific lubrication demands of the Wankel rotary engine — the platform that the owner of Arctic Performance Parts has specialised in since 2003, with over 23 years of hands-on rotary engine building and tuning experience across Norway and Scandinavia.
Why Standard Engine Oil Is Not Sufficient for Rotary Engines
The Mazda rotary engine places unique demands on engine oil that conventional piston engine oils are not designed to address. Apex seal lubrication, eccentric shaft bearing loads, and the high sustained operating temperatures of the Wankel combustion chamber all require specific anti-wear additive chemistry, thermal stability, and viscosity behaviour that Idemitsu’s rotary-specific formulation provides. Using a non-rotary-specific oil in a Mazda RX-7 or RX-8 — particularly under track conditions — accelerates apex seal wear, risks bearing film breakdown at high RPM, and compromises the engine’s operating clearances through higher oil consumption.
Premix Application
Idemitsu Racing Rotary Premix is blended directly with the fuel supply at the specified ratio to provide direct lubrication to the apex seals and rotor housings from the combustion side. This approach is used in competition builds where the OEM oil metering pump has been deleted for reliability or simplicity, or where a precisely controlled, consistent apex seal lubrication rate is required independent of the metering pump’s variable delivery across the RPM range.
