FireFlex 1 3/4″ Black Heat Sleeve — High-Temperature Motorsport Harness Protection

The FireFlex 1 3/4″ Black heat sleeve (FIN175BK) is a flexible, high-temperature resistant sleeving for motorsport wiring harness protection in engine bay environments. With an internal diameter of 44.5 mm (flat diameter, expands when installed over a wire bundle), this sleeve is suited to extra-large harness assemblies, primary multi-loom bundles, and maximum-diameter harness protection in extreme heat zones. FireFlex heat sleeve is used throughout motorsport and high-performance vehicle harness construction to protect wiring from direct and radiated heat exposure near exhaust manifolds, turbocharger housings, catalytic converters, and other high-temperature engine bay components.

What Is FireFlex Heat Sleeve?

FireFlex is a braided silicone fibreglass heat sleeve — a flexible, self-closing sleeving material that combines the high-temperature resistance of fibreglass braid construction with a silicone coating that provides additional heat reflection, fluid resistance, and abrasion protection. The silicone coating reflects radiated heat energy away from the wire bundle inside the sleeve, reducing the thermal load on wire insulation and connector bodies in close proximity to heat sources. FireFlex sleeve can withstand continuous temperatures of up to 260°C and short-term exposure at higher temperatures, making it suitable for direct installation adjacent to turbocharger housings, exhaust manifolds, and down-pipes in a motorsport engine bay.

FireFlex vs Standard Braided Sleeving

Standard nylon or polyester expandable braided sleeving provides abrasion protection and light mechanical protection but has a continuous temperature rating of only 125–150°C — insufficient for direct use near exhaust or turbocharger components. FireFlex silicone fibreglass sleeve provides meaningful thermal protection at temperatures far beyond the capability of nylon sleeving, making it the correct product for any harness section routed within the thermal envelope of an exhaust or turbocharger system. In a turbocharged race car or high-power performance vehicle, using the correct heat sleeve in high-temperature zones is a critical element of harness durability.

The 1 3/4″ internal diameter suits extra-large harness assemblies, primary multi-loom bundles, and maximum-diameter harness protection in extreme heat zones. FireFlex sleeve is self-closing — the braided construction wraps naturally around a wire bundle when slid over it, closing behind the bundle without requiring adhesive or heat to secure it. This makes it practical for installation over existing harness sections without removing connector ends, which is an important consideration during harness repair and modification at the track.
